Pleasure is the beginning and the end of living happily. -Epicurus

I imagine that writing the first post on a first blog is a little bit like the first push of a pedal on your bicycle - it's a little harder than you expected, and a little wobbly, but with time and experience it gets better.  It may even get fun.  So for this first post, I am getting that first push from Epicurus, who minced no words when it comes to his opinion on living happily.  And in a way, that is what I hope this blog will be about: about things that bring joy, or inspiration, or motivation, no matter how mundane they may seem.

I, for one, find a great deal of pleasure in food, and so I already know this will be a big topic here, as it is in my daily life.  After all, I believe that someone who cannot enjoy food cannot possibly be sucking the marrow out of life (nor their osso bucco).  I am also fascinated with style - and in some cases fashion - and will be sharing my take on both, though I hope there may be some debate and opinions exchanged.  And rounding out the intended topics will be inspirations from daily home life,  because, yes, even those simple acts of housekeeping can be made beautiful and make life more joyous.  And there is a certain pleasure in stacks of clean white dishes, no?
